Mardi GrasThe 2006-2007 Mardi Gras Charity BallMore than 650 people enjoyed the 68th Annual Mardi Gras Charity Ball on February 17, 2007. The dedicated volunteer members of Junior Board transformed The Mark of the Quad Cities from an arena into an stylish black tie affair. Using blue lighting affects, flowing fabric, sparking lit trees, and tall floral centerpieces, “Blue – An Evening of Elegance” lived up to its name as a truly memorable evening. Junior Board uses this opportunity to honor two individuals who have contributed greatly to the Quad City community. John Scally was crowned this year's King, in recognition for his work with the St. Patrick Society, the Quad City Jazz Festival and the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club. This year's Queen, Mary Oeslschlaeger, has dedicated her career to nursing, TVNHA, and other children related charities in the Quad Cities. Mardi Gras Ball is the main fundraising source for Junior Board’s commitment to improving the lives of children in the Quad Cities. All money raised will go toward funding Junior Board’s NEST program, the Trinity VNHA’s Welcome Home program, and other worthy child-related programs. The Junior Board of Rock Island would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the following businesses and individuals who generously donated to our Silent Auction at the 68th Annual Mardi Gras Charity Ball.
